War on Drugs New Single
This Philadelphia based band just released for Record Day yesterday a new single titled " Thinking of a Place " its dreamy , psychedelic, sounds fresh and 11 minutes long and first new stuff since the 2014 Lost in a Dream CD which was a great recording. Looking forwards to their new Atlantic release.By Ryan ReedAdam Granduciel of the War on Drugs' Studio-Geek ScrawlThe long-range lo-fi ambition of the Philly band's guitaristOn the track, frontman Adam Granduciel sings hazy imagery ("Once I had a dream I was fallin' from the sky/ Comin' down like runnin' water") over a two-chord acoustic guitar strum, peppered with psychedelic guitar solos and synthesizer.The Philadelphia sextet posted a Facebook video featuring in-studio footage and what sounds like the ambient synth intro to "Thinking of a Place."The band has yet to announce a fourth LP. Last year, the War on Drugs contributed a cover version of the Grateful Dead's biggest hit, "Touch of Grey," to the massive, 59-song tribute album Day of the Dead, curated by the National's Aaron and Bryce Dessner.https://vimeo.com/213900454
